SHIPLEY STRUCTURES WIN AT THE PRESTIGIOUS STRUCTURAL STEEL DESIGN AWARDS

Shipley Structures are proud to announce the Thames Tower Redevelopment project has won the prestigious Structural Steel Design Award 2016!

The awards, now in their 48th year, demonstrate the excellence achievable with the use of steel, as well as structural and architectural design, and this year’s collection of entries continued that great tradition. The Judges selected the Award winning entries from a shortlist of 21, all of which scored highly in terms of efficiency, cost-effectiveness, aesthetics, sustainability and innovation. The Judges were once again impressed by the remarkably high standard of entries and thought all the shortlisted projects showed merit.

Chairman of the Judges, David Lazenby CBE said “One strong impression that I have personally gained is that these days there are few “easy” projects. For many different - whether technical difficulty, timetabling or late-evolving scheme requirements - there are very few projects that do not present great challenges. This means that the teams must work closely and constructively together, and the benefits of the participation of a well-informed, committed and collaborative client cannot be overstated”.

He went on to say that “Last year I hoped that the signs of improvement would strengthen, but times are certainly not yet easy for the industry! So it is impressive to be able to report to you that we see here again a really outstanding set of projects and results”.
