BECKETWELL ENTERTAINMENT & CONFERENCE VENUE - DERBY
This project is a 3,500 capacity performance venue for music, entertainment and business events in the heart of Derby. Shipley Structures manufactured and installed approximately 1,500 tonnes of structural steelwork and were also responsible for the installation of concrete terracing units.
The multi-storey structure has a trussed roof performance area to create a large open span.
Cranked 914 deep beams support the concrete terracing units and the building also has high level walkway gantries hung from the roof structure and trusses over the performance area.
5 No. 36m long x 3.7m deep welded trusses in three sections were bolted together at ground floor level and lifted into position using two cranes.
Developed on the site of the former Pink Coconut nightclub, the £45.8M Becketwell Entertainment and Conference Venue will be fully flexible, scalable space. It is anticipated that the venue will hold hundreds of cultural and commercial events each year, offering a varied programme for local people and an additional 250,000 visitors to Derby every year.
